Least Distances 1

Each figure is horizontal to Earth and plane. In each case use the notations given with geometry to determine the shortest distance between the points. Place your calculations in the space provided.

(a)

Points "A" and "B" are stationary. Calculate the distance between the points.

(b)

Points "A" and "B" are stationery. Calculate the distance between them.

(c)

At the time, t = 0, all is "setup or ready" for the event. Points "A" and "B" are located as shown; "B" does not move. At event initiation, (t = 0+) "A" commences to move right-ward along the line a - - a, at a speed of 2 miles per hour.
i) Calculate the least distance that occurs later between points "A" and "B."
ii) When does this least distance occur?

Least Distances 1

The beginning problems are cake.

Each figure is horizontal to Earth and plane. In each case Use Vectors with the notations given to determine the shortest distance between points A and B.
